This webinar was held by the New Technologies Research Group of the Center for European Studies on May 27th ,2021.

Abstract:
Industry 4.0 is a paradigm which with the help of Information Technology has made extensive transformations in lifestyles and businesses especially in manufacturing and production industry. In this regard, new concepts such as Smart Manufacturing, Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) and Digital Twins have been emerged which simultaneously connect physical and cyber environments to improve performance of manufacturing systems. Cloud Manufacturing with XaaS approach is the most important transformation resulted from Industry 4.0 through which service-oriented manufacturing systems are replaced with process/product-oriented manufacturing systems. This meeting, from the series of meetings organized by Center for European Studies, aims to investigate and discuss about new technologies in this area.

At the beginning, the main speaker of the ceremony, Dr. Fattahi, referring to the fourth industrial revolution and the development and management of the product life cycle, gave the following explanations:
The whole effort of this industrial revolution is to expand the field of communication and perform geometric calculations with high capability in a fraction of a second without the intervention of human factors. One of the greatest achievements in the field of product development is the possibility of product localization and personalized production. "It has brought the product to the highest level of capability, because we can produce based on the exact details and needs of customers, such as digital dentistry and the production of dentures."

Dr. Fattahi added:
"Virtual reality plays an important role in the fourth industrial revolution. The world has moved towards providing smart content, and we can guide customers to what features of the product they should be looking for in the future and this will be a huge competitive advantage for a manufacturer. It can provide opportunities for customers to report the experience of using the product, so that if they do not intend to extend the purchase, the customer's trust can be regained. This way of thinking in production leads us to believe that we do not need to have a factory centered in one place. The most important principle in the production of European products today is that every production and action that takes place must take into account future generations and the environment."

Then Dr. Pirayesh added:
"The goal of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is to provide more accurate, faster and more comprehensive information, and the challenge of today's world is to intelligently select technology that has a good impact on the organization or production process and leads us to high productivity. The choice of cloud generation method at first glance, although it may seem smart, with further investigation in the field of supply chain, we find that by connecting all sources that are far apart, transit is strongly affected. It should also be noted that each of the product sources offer different qualities. "Amazon robots, for example, that are used to transport the product, due to the limited size, strongly affect the product layout and product size, design, and so on."

Dr. Kashkhashi Moghaddam also said:
Today, in the evolution of a product, there is no need for individual processes to evolve. Large companies such as Amazon, Google, Digikala, etc. have easy access to data through cyberspace and regularly test products and services and make managerial decisions based on them.
The question is: how to provide the product to the customer before its production and test??
The answer can be summed up in one word: product intelligence.
"Database and information systems have made it possible to collect information from the production line. By accessing this data, new products can also be developed, and with this simulation, the additional costs of the production line can be eliminated."

Excerpts from questions and answers:

Dear Dr. Tavakoli Moghaddam referring to the beginning of the fourth industrial revolution in Germany in 2011 and the sparks of the beginning of the fifth industrial revolution, asked this question:

"How do you predict the future of Germany?"
Germany's whole effort is to make smart choices that are not just cost-oriented. The field of environment and the construction of electronic vehicles is of particular importance. German researchers are trying to make it possible to recover products. On the other hand, process outsourcing, which is very popular today, will create the challenge in the near future as to which body the spiritual share of each brand will belong to???

Other respected participants asked these question:

"How does the Fourth Industrial Revolution affect jobs and executive areas?"
This revolution can develop interactive models by advising and providing improvement solutions and with easy access to timely data, such as the impact of Cobots on humans in Europe and the elderly population (one of the great challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution) and another example is smart washing machines that regulate the washing cycle using consumer information and data analysis.

"How can the cloud production supply chain be developed and what software is used?"
The only difference is that by using 3D printing, you have to virtualize the resources and outsource the process. (You can specify the size, variety of materials, accuracy and production time in advance.) The customer must be assigned a personal profile and account to be able to log in to the platform and create the service of their choice.

"What is the use of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the field of education?"
With the use of virtual reality, training is easily available to everyone and it is possible to create a virtual catalog. You can contact the operator directly, ask him questions, get help on how to use his equipment and send him feedback.

Summary and Conclusion:
Neither technology nor the resulting turmoil are any external forces over which humans have no control. We are all responsible for driving this evolution through the decisions we make every day as citizens, consumers, and investors. Therefore, we must appreciate this opportunity and power at our disposal and guide the Fourth Industrial Revolution towards a future that reflects our common goals and values. But to do so, we must provide a comprehensive, shared global perspective on how technology affects our lives and changes our economic, social, cultural and human environments. We have never had a more promising and at the same time more dangerous time in human history than today. But today's decision-makers are still stuck in a conventional, linear mindset, or have been involved in a number of crises that call for their attention; As a result, they do not have enough strategic ideas about the forces of disorder and shaping innovation that shape our future.
Now that we understand what the Fourth Industrial Revolution means and what its effects will be in general, we have to say, but everything depends on people and values! We must shape a future that is in the best interests of all of us, that is, we must prioritize and empower human beings. The Fourth Industrial Revolution, in its most pessimistic and inhumane form, may indeed be able to "robotize" humanity and thus provide us with emotion. But this revolution, as a complement to the best qualities of human nature — creativity, empathy, and caring — can bring humanity to collective and moral consciousness based on our sense of common destiny. It is up to us all to make sure the second scenario comes true.

A word to you:
One of the research areas of the Center for European Studies is the introduction of the 2027 European horizon and its plans.
This webinar will be an introduction and a start for the upcoming webinars. If you are interested in a particular topic, be sure to submit it through the website so that we can use your comments in the upcoming webinars. We hope that by continuing this series of meetings, we will be able to guide a part of the Iranian community of researchers and students to current and practical issues in Europe.
